This informative practical course will teach you the foundations of working with studio lighting, introducing you to studio equipment, simple but effective lighting techniques, and giving you the confidence to start using studio lighting in your work.
Throughout the day you will learn how to create several basic lighting designs, which you will then shoot with a professional model, practicing the techniques you have learnt.
You will also focus on methods of interacting and creating rapport with the people you shoot, allowing you to create visually interesting images. Model and all lighting equipment for the day are provided.
No previous lighting experience is necessary, but you must have a good working knowledge of your camera, which you will need to bring with you to the session

Course itinerary
- 10.00-10.45: overview of day, keynote slides on studio lighting.
- 10.45: Introduction to equipment, basic studio practise.
- 11-12.30: lighting with model 1 light
- 12.30-1.00: review of images whilst others shoot with model
- 1.00-1.45: lunch, (not provided)
- 1.45: Review of techniques covered
- 2.15-3.30: simple but effective lighting set-ups, shooting with model
- 3.30-4.00: review of images
- 4.00-4.45: Shooting with model
- 4.45-5.00: recap and where to go next...
