Creative Photography - Intermediate

Aimed at helping you to consider why you are drawn to create images, and start to develop a personal photographic style and voice, this is an inspiring and challenging visual based theory course.

Each week you will look at the work of seminal photographers who have played a vital role in the development of contemporary photography such as Diane Arbus, Jeff Wall, Nadav Kander, Stephen Shore, Sally Mann and Garry Winogrand, and discuss the methods and techniques they use to produce visually arresting imagery.

Although this is predominantly a theory based course you will look at elements of camera use, including composition and subject, aperture control, and metering. You’ll also discuss the benefits and drawbacks of working with different types of camera, and choosing the right lens for your work.

Practical projects set each week to complete between sessions will then be critiqued the following week, allowing you a platform to discuss and develop your work. You’ll receive feedback on what is working and why, and guidance on how to progress.

8 weekly sessions with practical exercises that have to be completed each week.

Although there are no specific requirements for this course, a basic working knowledge of your camera is desirable and a love of images, making your own and reading the work of others.
